Patient simulators generate realistic human physiological signals (such as electrical cardiac activity, pressure pulses, and blood oxygen levels). Biomedical equipment technicians (BMETs) use them to safely calibrate, test, and verify the diagnostic accuracy and alarm thresholds of clinical patient monitors, telemetry systems, and defibrillators without risking patient safety.
Depending on the model, our simulators can recreate 12-lead ECG (including pediatric rates and complex arrhythmias), Respiration (impedance pneumography), Invasive Blood Pressure (IBP), Non-Invasive Blood Pressure (NIBP), SpO2 (pulse oximetry saturation), Temperature (YSI-400/700 thermistors), and specialized signals like Thermodilution Cardiac Output or Fetal Heart Rates.
Most medical safety standards (including Joint Commission guidelines and IEC 60601-1) recommend preventative maintenance and calibration verification of vital signs monitors at least once or twice a year.
